Community Reinvestment Act Officer

Southern Bank, headquartered in Poplar Bluff, is hiring a Community Reinvestment Act officer. This position ensures proper adherence to the provisions and intent of the Community Reinvestment Act so that the goals of meeting the credit needs of the communities the bank serves, including low- and moderate-income neighborhoods, are met.

Southern Bank has 65 locations in Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois and Kansas. The CRA officer could be located at any of Southern Bank’s branches within its footprint, subject to office availability. Applicants can apply online.

  • Responsibilities
    •  develop, maintain and monitor the bank’s CRA program to ensure the bank’s goals, objectives and performance under regulatory assessment factors are met
    • maintain the bank’s CRA public file as required by the Community Reinvestment Act
    • chair the CRA/Community Development Committee
    • coordinate with examiners during CRA examinations; furnish examiners with requested information; ensure compliance issues are adequately addressed where appropriate
    • monitor the bank’s CRA performance and recommend ways to improve the bank’s CRA program in the community
    • prepare and present to the CRA/Community Development Committee and the board of directors on a periodic basis a summary of the effectiveness of the bank’s CRA program 
    • conduct all necessary training to ensure compliance with CRA regulations
    • handle any verbal or written complaint(s) received affecting the bank’s CRA performance and issuing a response to the complaint
    • ensure that the bank’s CRA effort is accomplished by identifying those people who can best understand and initiate CRA activities, such as bank team members, community organizations, government officials, nonprofit groups, businesses and trade associations
    • provide input on compliance concerns relevant to the products and services currently offered by the bank and to changes to the products and services currently offered by the bank
    • develop products and services targeted to low- and moderate-income individuals
    • ensure the accuracy of and submission of the bank’s CRA data on an annual basis is within the regulatory guidelines
  • Requirements
    • bachelor’s degree
    • previous CRA or compliance experience preferred
    • broad knowledge of various aspects of banking preferred
    • strong analytical skills
    • knowledge of small business, consumer and mortgage lending practices

Chief Operating Officer

Mid America Bank is hiring a chief operating officer to oversee its core operations, retail branch operations, deposit operations, loan operations and digital banking operations. The COO is a member of the executive leadership team responsible for ensuring the bank’s operational and strategic goals and associated initiatives are effectively pursued and executed. The COO plays an integral role in the development and execution of the bank’s strategic plan. 

The COO is based at the Wardsville branch; hours for this position are flexible. 

  • Requirements
    • bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, business management, accounting or another related field
    • experience operating and managing under FDICIA requirements (Section 36 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act and Part 363 of the FDIC's Rules and Regulations) preferred
    • experience with Fiserv core system or other core banking system technology preferred
    • minimum of 15 years of experience preferred; years of experience may be substituted for education requirements or related work experience.
