Human Resources Director
Mid-Missouri Bank in Springfield, a Forbes Best-In-State Bank for the state of Missouri in 2025, is hiring a human resources director to lead its HR function and help shape the future of the bank’s organization and culture.
The HR director is a key member of the bank’s leadership team, responsible for designing, executing and overseeing all HR strategies and programs. This role leads all areas of HR, including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, policy development, compliance and organizational development. The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on, capable of providing leadership while managing day-to-day HR operations in a growing financial institution.
Responsibilities
- serve as strategic HR advisor to executive leadership, contributing to organizational planning, culture, and workforce strategy
- lead and manage the HR team, ensuring high performance and continuous development
- oversee full-cycle recruitment and retention strategies to attract top talent and reduce turnover
- administer compensation and benefits programs, evaluating competitiveness and recommending adjustments
- ensure compliance with federal and Missouri state employment laws, banking regulations, HR policies and internal controls
- develop, implement and update HR policies, employee handbook and procedures
- lead performance management processes, including evaluations, coaching and disciplinary actions
- drive initiatives that support employee engagement, leadership development and training
- manage HRIS systems and ensure accurate reporting, data integrity and analytics for leadership
- oversee employee relations with fairness, professionalism and discretion
- serve as project leader on HR-related initiatives, audits, vendor management and system improvements
Requirements
- bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or related field required; master’s degree preferred
- 7+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, preferably within banking or financial services
- strong understanding of employment law, regulatory requirements and HR best practices
- proven experience managing HR teams and programs in an organization of similar scale
- exceptional interpersonal, communication, coaching and problem-solving skills
- ability to build trust and credibility at all levels of the organization
- PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP certification highly preferred
